Leduc Minor Softball COMPETITIVE BALL 2023 SEASON INFORMATION

Thank you to each and everyone of your girls who attended the ID camp sessions September 24/25th, 2022. We were beyond excited to have them see what Jets Softball has to offer, and to also see the level of commitment all the volunteers in Leduc put forth to support them having the best experience they can. If you have any feedback, please feel free to share it here:

We are an extremely hands on association that has softball from Timbits to U19, we won 3 city championships this season, hosted 2 major tournaments and 2 rounds of provincials. We are a community, and we are extremely proud of every player and coach we have in our organization, the integrity they have, and their willingness to be leaders. Moving towards competitive ball was a way to support our girls in Leduc who are wanting an expanded experience, but also to support any other players who have been looking for a place to stay, grow, and find a home.

The strength, drive, and love of the game that each player showed us this weekend identified that we will be able to offer competitive teams in 2023. Our organization, regardless of the level a player plays, is about them being the best players and best teammates they can be within whatever team they are identified for. We are committed to supporting them with great coaching and training, but ultimately they need to love the game and want to be at the diamonds. That is our culture here in Leduc.

Please know that your child comes first to us, and that includes helping them find the best fit for them. We are already partnering with other organizations to ensure that if we are unable to offer your player a spot on a higher level team, we will give them as much support as we can to find a best fit, whether it is in our organization or not. We do this without hesitation, as your children finding the place they desire to be is extremely important to us. We have a lot of people who have a variety of experience and knowledge about the different opportunities, and ensured that we shared with all the surrounding associations our intent for this season, but also asked them to identify to us if they have opportunities for players if we are unable to roster them. Collaboration to benefit the players is so important to us.

We know tryouts can cause a lot of anxiety, and we hoped to alleviate that as much as possible this weekend. Many players feel a lot of pressure to accept the first offer that comes their way, versus ensuring that the organization, team, and group are the best fit for them. From a board perspective, there is a reason we are being so thoughtful in this process, we value our relationship with the Jets Family we have built and we have an accountability to every player that wants to call Leduc home. Please let your child know that we are extremely proud of the grit they showed, but more importantly, how brave they are, as it is so hard to put yourself out there! There was such dedication and love of the game shown by so many players, and seeing their smiles meant so much to each and everyone of our volunteers!

As we continue our process, if your child is moving to another option, we celebrate them finding their fit, and we wish them the very best season!

If your player isn't interested in competitive ball at this time, they do not need to attend the ID camps. We will have some opportunity later in the winter training season for them to attend tryouts if they change their minds! Please note that our grassroots recreational programs are and will remain a priority for our organization. We believe that access to foundational training, regardless of what level your player plays is crucial and we will always support all of our players. Winter training camp information will come out early September, with sessions starting Mid October.

FINAL TRYOUT DATE: January 8, 2023 from 9:00-11:00 am at Turf Training Centre NISKU. 1030-34th ave Nisku Alberta
