Leduc Minor Softball COMPETITIVE BALL 2024 SEASON INFORMATION

After a successful first season, Leduc Minor Softball is excited to continue to offer competitive ball for the 2024 season! Please note that our ID camps are to evaluate what our association can offer for levels (B, AW, A) and is only the first step in creating our 2024 path forward! We are about creating the right fit for every team we create and focus on our program, not the letter. Please complete the below form for the ID camp registration (link also in bio)

Players from all areas are welcome! We, and all associations, are required to follow the release requirements for U15 and below age categories, which means that any player from out of our catchment area requires a release if offered a position in our competitive program. They can absolutely try out, and we encourage you to, but no spots can be offered till discussions occur with their home organization! There are no release requirements for U17 and up.

If your player isn't interested in competitive ball at this time, they do not need to attend the ID camps. We will have some opportunity later in the winter training season for them to attend tryouts if they change their minds! Please note that our grassroots recreational programs are and will remain a priority for our organization. We believe that access to foundational training, regardless of what level your player plays is crucial and we will always support all of our players. Fall/Winter training camp information will come out early September, with sessions starting Mid October.

It is extremely important to note that as Leduc is intending to offer competitive ball in the 2024 season, for those attending other association's ID camps, please note we will not be assessing any releases of competitive players at the U13 and U15 levels till after this session, however if your player has an opportunity and Leduc is not the right fit for them, we will support their success in another organization. They come first.

ABOUT US:

We are an extremely hands on association that has softball from Timbits to U19, we won 3 city championships this season, as well as 4 slivers, and 2 bronze medals. We hosted 2 major tournaments and 3 divisions of provincials. We are a community, and we are extremely proud of every player and coach we have in our organization, the integrity they have, and their willingness to be leaders. Moving towards competitive ball was a way to support our girls in Leduc who are wanting an expanded experience, but also to support any other players who have been looking for a place to stay, grow, and find a home.

Our players show a strength, drive, and love of the game and in our organization, regardless of the level a player plays, it is about them being the best players and best teammates they can be within whatever team they are identified for. We are committed to supporting them with great coaching and training, but ultimately they need to love the game and want to be at the diamonds. That is our culture here in Leduc.

We had an extreme growth this year, from 9 teams to 17, which is extraordinary! We had 2 Competitive teams, U15 B and U17 B as well as tiered at U11 and U17. There is an excitement in our organization on continuing to grow each athlete and having the most amount of fun we can on each team!

Please know that your child comes first to us, and that includes helping them find the best fit for them. We are already partnering with other organizations to ensure that if we are unable to offer your player a spot on a higher level team, we will give them as much support as we can to find a best fit, whether it is in our organization or not. We do this without hesitation, as your children finding the place they desire to be is extremely important to us. We have a lot of people who have a variety of experience and knowledge about the different opportunities, and ensured that we shared with all the surrounding associations our intent for this season, but also asked them to identify to us if they have opportunities for players if we are unable to roster them. Collaboration to benefit the players is so important to us.

We know tryouts can cause a lot of anxiety, and we hoped to alleviate that as much as possible through everything we host. Many players feel a lot of pressure to accept the first offer that comes their way, versus ensuring that the organization, team, and group are the best fit for them. From a board perspective, there is a reason we are being so thoughtful in this process, we value our relationship with the Jets Family we have built and we have an accountability to every player that wants to call Leduc home. Please let your child know that we are extremely proud of the grit they showed, but more importantly, how brave they are, as it is so hard to put yourself out there! There was such dedication and love of the game shown by so many players, and seeing their smiles meant so much to each and everyone of our volunteers!

As we continue our process, if your child is moving to another option, we celebrate them finding their fit, and we wish them the very best season!
